The number of households in Nelson and Richmond needing affordable housing has hit another record high, our latest Housing Need Survey shows.
The survey showed there were 784 households needing affordable housing, in addition to the 438 households on the Public Housing Register, as of 31 December 2024. This was 5% higher than the previous six months, which was a record at the time. All camping grounds continued to report a steady demand from people with no other place to live.
